Arc-Tech MU to Support New Stirling Low-Carbon Housing Development

1st April 2026

Spades are in the ground at a new housing development site in St Ninians, Stirling.

Construction is now well underway at Graystale Road, a site that has lain vacant since 2012, which will deliver 44 much-needed affordable homes for the area, in a mix of one and two-bedroom cottage flats, and two, three and four-bedroom houses.

Four houses will also be fully wheelchair-accessible, with all homes being retained for Stirling Council housing stock for social rent and are estimated to be completed by spring 2027.

Housing Convener, Cllr Willie Ferguson, said: “I’m delighted to see construction works get underway for new council housing at Graystale Road, St Ninians.

“The location is ideal for transport links, schools and local amenities, and these houses will be a much welcome addition to the local community when completed.”

“I am particularly pleased that these energy efficient houses will help tenants and families in a cost-of-living crisis.”

“Simply put, we need more houses. The current Strategic Housing Investment Plan aims to deliver almost 900 high-quality affordable homes within the next five years, and we are delighted to support this development in St Ninians, as we have on other sites from Balmaha to Cowie.”

Arc-Tech MU is supporting CCG (Scotland) with a dual-fuel water and electrical services package to support the homes’ advanced building performance, which is set to comply with Aspect Platinum Level 1 (Section 7: Sustainability of the Scottish Building Standards).

MU is also on site in Balmaha, where a further 20 homes supported by Stirling Council will be delivered for Rural Stirling Housing Association. A further four properties are designated for East Loch Lomond Community Trust, with six houses available for “New Supply Shared Equity”.

Designed by John Gilbert Architects, the new development is located within close proximity of Loch Lomond and is set for completion next year.

RSHA Chairperson Fiona Boath said: “We know that the communities we serve are fully behind us when it comes to building new affordable homes where people want to live. There is a consistent and pressing need for housing in these areas, and we remain committed to our mission to carry on building.”

RSHA Chief Executive Donna Birrell added: “The Balmaha community invited RSHA to help it address the lack of affordable housing in the village some time ago.

“Like RSHA, this community is completely focused on the need to bring affordable housing to Balmaha, and we have created over many years a close working relationship with the East Loch Lomond Community Trust, who are dedicated servants of the community. Working together, we have overcome obstacles and barriers to make these homes a reality.’
