CCG (Scotland) began construction of the £5.8m project for Rural Stirling Housing Association in February, following years of work to overcome the challenges of building new affordable homes in the village.
The scenic town sits on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond and remains an enduringly popular tourist destination. However, its beautiful yet challenging landscape has long presented barriers to new residential development, particularly affordable housing – a need which Rural Stirling Housing Association and the local community have ambitiously sought to address in partnership with East Loch Lomond Community Trust, Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority, and Stirling Council.
Arc-Tech MU is playing a vital role in the delivery of the project with the installation of utilities infrastructure, comprising water and electrical services, which will ultimately create 10 new homes for rent, 6 shared-equity homes, and 4 homes allocated to key local workers.
A spokesperson for Rural Stirling Housing Association said: “Like RSHA, Balmaha and the surrounding area is completely focused on the need to deliver much-needed affordable housing. We look forward to the day when tenants move into these homes in the village.”
