The Council, working in partnership with CCG (Scotland), embarked on a strategic, affordable housebuilding journey in 2017, and since then, over 300 new high-quality, highly energy-efficient homes have been created across the region.
Steps are now being taken in response to the emerging climate and cost of living crisis, with a move towards net zero carbon housing delivery, with three new developments taken to an operational net zero carbon standard of build across the local authority.
Bellevue Road in Bonnyton, an 18-home development, was completed in spring 2023, which was followed by Kilmarnock Road in Mauchline – the Council’s first-ever net zero assisted living project, comprising 14, one-bedroom flats alongside 3, one and two-bedroom bungalows.
A third project was completed in early 2025. The 48-home development is the largest to achieve operational net zero carbon to date, delivering much-needed family homes while also addressing the sustainability agenda.
In removing Gas, Arc-Tech MU’s duel-fuel, Electrical and Water services package has supported each build.
